How Does the Resurrection Tree Activity Teach Kids About Easter?

Engage kids in meaningful discussion about the true Easter story as they hang a new card on the Resurrection Tree each day and learn more about Easter with this simple lesson about the Resurrection (script included for parents).

Children create a “tree” from tree branches placed in a vase. Then using the 12 (2 x 2 inch) Easter Resurrection Tree Mini Cards from the Christ Centered Easter Family Resources, children hang one card on the tree for 12 days.

Each 2 x 2 inch card symbolizes one of 12 different Easter gifts and contains a Bible verse reference to that topic:

  • peace
  • power
  • love
  • unity
  • new creation
  • grace
  • sacrifice
  • resurrection
  • forgiveness
  • rebirth
  • joy

Each day, parents and kids discuss that gift’s meaning by reading the Bible verse and talking about it together.

Parents can also pair this Resurrection lesson for kids with the God’s Easter Gifts Bible Study (also part of the Christ Centered Easter Family Resources) with talks about the same 12 Easter gifts and includes a devotional and Bible study journal.

Why Is the Resurrection Tree a Great Way to Teach Kids About Easter?

I created this easy Easter activity for kids about the Resurrection because kids love the idea of a small, mini Easter activity that talks about God each day during the Easter season.

Families love this bite-sized way to learn about authentic Easter hope in only minutes a day!

Plus, everyday discussion is a national way to share deeper about biblical truths about Easter and the Resurrection with kids.

And as a mom of four kids myself, I understand how easy it for parents like us to be overwhelmed by what to share or how to share it in meaningful ways. This fun Easter game makes it easy to teach kids the real story of Easter and to talk about the important message of hope behind the Resurrection!

Do I need the Christ Centered Easter Resurrection Tree Mini Cards?

No, you don’t need the official 12 (2 x 2 inch) Christ Centered Easter Resurrection Tree Mini Cards to complete this awesome Resurrection lesson with kids, but they sure make it easier! There’s no need to think of different words and Bible verses for each day of this Easter lesson. Everything is pre-determined and ready to go!
