5 Tips to the Perfect Popsicle

But first, let’s talk about a few popsicle-making secrets. Because in my own popsicle making adventures, I ran into a few snafus, and I want to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes!

VitaMix-image--WEB1) Blend the ingredients well.

My trusty Vita-Mix does an amazing job of quickly and easily blending my homemade popsicle ingredients.

P.S. Because of the secret ingredient in these popsicle recipes, you’ll want your ingredients well blended! More on the secret ingredient in a minute!

The right molds make all the difference. Truly. We’ve found this popsicle mold to consistently deliver perfect pops every time.

I love that the popsicles are also full size and don’t have that weird plastic thing at the bottom. The popsicles look like, well, popsicles when they come out.

3) Know the secret to prepping your popsicle sticks.

Don’t you hate it when you pull out your popsicle… and end up pulling a clean stick straight out of the mold (with the popsicle still stuck inside)? Ugh!

Here’s a trick: Pour the mixture into the popsicle mold and freeze the pops for an hour without the sticks. Meanwhile, soak your sticks in a bowl full of water. Then, when the hour is done, insert the sticks!

I’m no scientist, but I *think* this is why it works: the water molecules in the stick attach to the partially frozen molecules of the popsicle to create a strong seal that won’t separate stick from popsicle when you pull them out of the mold! YES!!!

4) Freeze for at least 3 hours (preferably overnight).

You will be tempted to break this rule (especially when you taste some of these great recipes!!) but trust me, patience yields a better pop. In fact, I just may make a bumper sticker out of that one.

5) Run the pops under hot water to remove them from the mold.

Frozen popsicles have one vice—they love to stick to the mold! No fear though. Simply run each plastic popsicle mold under hot water to loosen the popsicle’s death-like grip on the plastic.

P.S. Another reason why I love this popsicle mold is that you can pull out each popsicle mold individually. This makes the popsicle removal process much easier!

Alright, now that we’re all prepped and ready… let’s bring on the recipes!

And of course, that secret ingredient.
